What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

Chick Lit Thrillers

seem to be a dime a dozen as they say...and this one isn't bad but it just seems more "chick lit" to me than for my taste. Stranger in the Lake was not a memorable read for me. Wasn't offensive though, either.

The Last One

Keep in mind, I don't like romance mixed with murder. This is just me...but The Last Sister will be the last book I will read in the new Columbia River series. WAY too much love WAY WAY WAY too much love. But if you like thriller chick-lit, it might be for you!

Chick Lit with Death?

When You Read This is about a woman who has died from cancer. So it isn't a happy, funny, light book. Okay so maybe it is happy and funny but it isn't light. But yet it is light...as in a quick read. It has a good premise. And if women's literature/chick lit is one's thing, then is one at that should be at the top of one's list! It does have meat. It just isn't my cup of tea.

Okay

Maybe I just keep choosing YA thrillers. I need to stop choosing them. Suicide Notes from Beautiful Girls is another. And it was good. And I mean, hey, if it were a Stuart Woods or a Faye Kellerman or a Lawrence Block, then it wouldn't seem like it was "just another book" because those are my kinda books. And YA thrillers just usually not.

The Forgotten 39

36 Questions that Changed My Mind about You was not my kind of book. It has been described as Chick-Lit and I am not a very good Chick-Lit Appreciator. But it was cute and if someone like Chick-Lit they will probably like it. It has an interesting premise though. And there are questions that are said to be good ones to ask of a new love interest. My sweetie and I did this once, and it was kinda fun!

I Just Didn't Know

That All We Ever Wanted was this kinda book. Chick Lit is what is has been called. It was okay. I mean, a very important topic. But it kinda reads like some not-so-well written YA novel. If one likes this kind of romance, with a "ripped from the headlines important topic" then this will be a good choice. For me, the importance of the topic was bogged down by the fluff.
