I Get It

Bachelor Nation:  Inside the World of America's Favorite Guilty Pleasure was eye-opening for me because I have never seen a full episode of The Bachelor.  Now it isn't because I consider myself too good for it, it's just that it's on when I work, so I never got into it.  I did love Blind Date.  So no, I am not thinking I am above TB at all!  But listening to this book I do understand why people would be drawn to it, perhaps like a television version of a Stone Barrington novel. 

While My Friends Were Meeting A.S. King

While my friends were at the PaLA Conference in Seven Springs, watching A.S. King receive the 2013 Carolyn Wicker Field Award for her book Ask the Passengers, I was at home reading Reality Boy, King's newest book.  While I would have loved to meet Ms. King, I must say that I felt so fortunate to be able to read Reality Boy.  If someone would have said, "What would you rather do, meet King or read Reality Boy.  Pick one.  I would pick the book, because man, I wouldn't want to miss this book.  While I was reading it, I couldn't help but think of Honey Boo-Boo and worry that her time on reality tv is going to haunt her for the rest of her life.  Gerald was on a reality tv show when growing up, where he was known as the boy who went to the bathroom in inappropriate places when he was unhappy.  Now he is seventeen, but his time on the show and more important, his time growing up in a seriously messed up family with a total jerk for a mom and a psychopath for an older sister is still haunting him.  King is just an amazing writer.  Her characters as so real.  I have already recommended this book and will continue to do so.  Fantastic.  Just like everything I have read by King.

Infamous

Very super sad that The Fame Game has come to an end with Infamous.  How I loved LA Candy and Fame Game! I can only hope that Lauren Conrad will do another YA book.  These are so much fun to read and recommend.  I like Madison Parker in LA Candy and grew to like her more and more with each Fame Game book.  Sad to see this one end, but it raps up nicely.

Okay. I checked out Reality Chick on eaudio because I needed something to listen to and because it seemed like it would just be a quick, silly read. And it was. But it was more than that, really. The main character is really likable- not the spoiled chick I thought she would be. Also the author avoided the easy and predictable fights between the girls in the house. I thought for sure this would just be cranky, spoiled reality chick girls fighting and stealing each other's guys and all of that typical stuff. But it wasn't. It was also really realistic when it came to the language of folks of that age, and also in terms of long- distance relationships that move from high school to college. I knew I would like the book, but I didn't think I would care about the characters, but I did. I liked it! Great fun!

If You Think I Won't Go...

Watch Me!  Oh watch me, prove you wrong today.  You don't even know you lost me.  You think I'll always stay.  Oh just watch me walk away.  What a great song! And I really liked the book Watch Me, too.  Its former title is Reality Chick, but I like Watch Me, better.     I checked out this e-audio because I needed something to listen to and because it seemed like it would just be a quick, silly read. First Things First

I have to admit that I am a Bethenny Frankel fan. I first heard of her from Bethenny Getting Married? and I think she is a funny and smart lady. I was hoping to enjoy Skinnydipping before I even started it and I really did. I haven't had this much fun reading an adult book since Dollhouse. The cover and the title of the book don't really have anything to do with the book itself, so you can just ignore them. The book is kinda about Bethanny herself. A young girl's attempt to make it big in LA, then a stint on a reality tv show. The book is filled with ridiculous tales of Hollywood parties and indulgence. Great, great fun and I hope she does another.

Stuck on You

I couldn't wait for the second Fame Game book by Lauren Conrad, Starstruck, and it was awesome, just as I had hoped! I loved the LA Candy Series and I love this one, especially the main character, Madison. She finds some happiness in this book and so that made me super happy! Of course she finds drama, too and the ending makes me wish the new book was coming out sooner! Love it! Love the series!

Fortune and Fame

As I have written, I am a huge fan of the LA Candy series and I've been waiting for The Fame Game to come out for a long time! The Fame Game features Madison Parker, the sneaky, coniving chick from Candy who pretended to be born of wealth, but really hailed from a tiny town, the child of a convict and an alcoholic. When she was outed by her little sister, Sophie, it made her even more sympathetic and likable and her stardom grew. Now she is back in another Reality TV show with three new co-stars.

This is pure Stuart Woods Cheese for teens, but much better than most, if not all, of Woods' latest Stone offerings. Great fun! And it is set in LA of course, so it is automatically entertaining!
