Journies

The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise is a very enjoyable book.  Dan Gemeinhart has quickly become one of my "watch for it" authors.  When he has a new book out, I want to try it!  This was a really good one.  It was funny when it was trying to be and also touching throughout.  It was just a little hard to get my attention at first but then I was into it.  I really enjoyed it.  I see that the group that I used to belong to that thinks about Newbery possibilities is reading it for this month.  I am not sure if I think it is Newbery worthy...certainly Newbery Honor worthy.  Good, good book. 

A great find

Dan Gemeinhart was an author I found in 2016, with Some Kind of Courage.  I loved that book!  At the time I thought he was a new author, but no, I had just foolishly missed him!  Like my other amazing find of 2016, Jewel Parker Rhodes!  Scar Island was really, really fantastic!  The only sad thing about it, is that I think this might be his book for 2017 and I already read it!  I need to go back and read The Honest Truth!

SUCH a good story!

I am so glad I became open to westerns.  It was Robert B. Parker who did that for me.  Without Virgil and Everett, I don't think I would have read Some Kind of Courage, and that would have been a shame.  This is a western, for sure.  Full of adventure but also substance.  Dan Gemeinhart is a new-to-me author!
