The End

totally saved Alone for me.  Totally.  I don't want to say much more.  But it was a good one to read this time of year!  Cyn Balog is a writer I have come to enjoy very much! 

Halloween Has Come and Gone

But I don't feel my usual post-holiday depression.  Maybe just a wee bit, but not like I used to when I did so many Halloween-ish things.  On Halloween itself I listed to The End of Summer:  Thirteen Tales of Halloween and that was very cool.  I did so when I was running (slowly, slowly) around different neighborhoods and it was particularly fallish and there were many spooky lawns.  It was cool.  Good Lord willin' and the creek don't rise, I hope to do that next year, too, with another good Halloween book. 

So it was October...

and, as I have mentioned, I often have to tell scary tales in October.  I am always looking for some new one and I happened upon Scary Stories for All Ages (American Storytelling) available on audible and I bought it and really enjoyed it.   Great stories and well narrated on the audio.  Did I use any?  No.  But still, I loved this book.  

While Looking for a Brian Freeman Book

I came across a short story by another Brian Freeman.  Brian James Freeman.  I remember reading him before when I used to be able to pick up copies of Cemetery Dance at the long-gone Borders.  I was glad to see Monster Night:  A Halloween Short Story on iBooks and even more glad after I read it.  Great little story.  Awesome.

Halloween

Yes...I do love it.  And I have always wanted to read The Halloween Tree, but I never was able to get into it.  When I needed an audiobook, though, there it was.  And I am very glad that I listened to it.  First of all, this cover is awesome.  Those delightful jack-o-lanterns.  You just want to crawl into the tree. 
The book itself was really good, and had I been able to listen to it at a normal volume in my car (I lost by hook-up) so I just play it right from the ipod on the dash.  The audio that I listened to was acted out, full cast kind of deal.  And I love that.  The book gives a history of Halloween through the story of boys who go back in time and see how different cultures celebrated their dead.  This is the first Ray Bradbury I have ever read and now I know I must try some more.
