What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

Uneasy Sleep

Because it is October 1, I thought I might watch a scary movie tonight. Then I found this page with some really good suggestions. Then I got too scared. And I realized that I would have bad nightmares tonight if I tried to watch any of them! I have seen some of them like Insidious over there. And man, it was scary. So for the first day of October, I think I will forgo the scary movie and read a story. Or better yet...eat some Halloween candy!

The first and only local/semi-local haunt open this weekend is Hundred Acres Manor in Bethel Park. This haunt never disappoints. And this year, a lot of it has been redone so even if you have gone in the past and think you know every turn in the maze, you have to go this year because there are plenty of new scares. As always, a well-run haunt, enthusiastic actors, friendly staff, benefits local charities, real restrooms and concession stand! Who can ask for anything more!

Halloween Here We Go!

As you can see, Halloween 2012 has arrived! I found the candy at the Sheetz in Ross Township on Thursday, July 12 and the decorations at the Dollar Tree on Mt. Nebo on Friday, July 13 (how fitting) and I must say, this is very exciting!
Don't get me wrong, I love summer and the fact families can have time together and the weather is nice, but fall has a special place in my heart and it always will. Check out the Cadbury Scream Egg!
