The Older I Get

I think I get a little more prudish!  A Time to Scatter Stones is a novella by Lawrence Block starring the very cool, incredibly likable Matthew Scudder.  One of my favorite detectives!  The only thing I didn't like about this was the sex.  I don't mean it in a judgement way.  It wasn't dirty or offensive to me, indeed, there are no details.  It just isn't my thing and kinda bored me.  But otherwise, a very good mystery.  And I do love Scudder.

Good Stuff

Terror's Echo:  Transgressions Novellas 7,8 and 10 was an excellent collection of stories.  I mean, think about it, Ed McBain (Evan Hunter) was the editor?  And one of the stories was a Keller story from Block???  Even though I had read the Keller story a long, long time ago, it was just as good the second time around and how I wish he would write another.
I don't think I had read any John Farris before, but this one was good, good, good.  I am always mixed about Stephen King, of course, but the story in here was excellent.  A great, great, great collection. 

Keller, Keller, Keller

What a super, duper, amazing surprise to find a new Keller book!  I only wish that it would have been a full book, but man, I can't complain.  Keller's Fedora was fantastic!  FANTASTIC!  I love Keller and Lawrence Block reads it and I just love him!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                

It's in the Stars

Great little story about my favorite lovable hit-man, Keller.  I love this guy.  I love LB.  Keller's Horoscope is a great little read.

Keller Returns

How can you be in love with a stone-cold killer?  I don't know, but I am. Hit Me just reminded me, yet again, about all the lovely traits of Keller-my most favorite anti-hero.  Lawrence Block does it again. Keller is a husband, a daddy, a stamp collector and a killer. But he isn't a thief and he doesn't cheat on his wife. Nobody is perfect. Loved it.

A Day with Lawrence Block

So I saw on Facebook that the wonderful writer, Lawrence Block was giving away ebook copies of a Scudder short story, Out the Window.    I downloaded it right away and bought two others, Keller stories!  Keller's Adjustment and Keller on the Spot.  The deal is that there are few writers as awesome as Block.  His characters are real and right on and his writing style is just so up my alley, I can't turn put down any of his books.  He is one of my most favorite writers of all time.  It was a great day, spent with Scudder and Keller.

Keller is a Killer

but he is very lovable.  I can't help it, I really like Keller. And I really liked Keller in Dallas.   He isn't a bad guy.  He has a wife and a baby and regular job, and he collects stamps.  It's just that he is a hired killer.  And this time his job is in Dallas.  There will be a full novel coming out that will start with this story.  Great, quick read.

Mr. Block

So political mysteries really aren't my thing.  I like pure detective, police work.  But this was Lawrence Block.  And I love Lawrence Block!  And well, I LOVED The Triumph of Evil.  It is smart and funny and even though it is set in the 70s, amidst the  protests of the Vietnam War and the struggle for civil rights, it is still very enjoyable today and really holds up.  Miles is an assassin, but likable...like Keller.  I do love Keller.  Great book.
