There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.
Gary Dell'Abate talks about all of the possible titles for his book They Call me Baba Booey and they were funny, but I do think they got it right! Especially after hearing how Dell'Abate wound up with the nickname, just such a simple thing turned into a catch phrase. I like Dell'Abate, as much as one can come to like someone from hearing him read a very open and honest audiobook. I like the extra parts to the audiobook and I like the Dell'Abate is a supporter of them! And I completely agree with his "screw you" to people who say if you have only listened to a book, you really haven't read it! Good stuff!
I think that Seek would be a powerful book to read, but I KNOW it was a powerful book to hear. It's Paul Fleischman at his very best. Paul is the son. Sid is the dad. Both are amazing. Rob Radkovitz is writing a school paper, a memoir. He is reflecting back upon the father that he never knew and how that has impacted him. It is a portrayal of love and understanding and family. So very, very well done.
