What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

WOW!

Because I LOVED The Selection series from Kiera Cass, I couldn't wait until The Betrothed came out!  And I have to say this was one of those times when there was NO disappointment even with such high expectations!  I can't wait until the next one!   Right now the pictures won't upload on Blogger, so I will have to do that later!  But even though this is romance and romance isn't my thing, I love these books by Cass!

Mr. Ripely Meets Social Media

Social Creature has been called "The Talented Mr. Ripley for a digital age."  Genuine Fraud was another Mr. Ripley reboot and I have to say I liked that one so much better.  Read GF for sure.  Although I did like this book.  But if you want to read a TTMR reboot and only want to read one, GF is a lot better.  For me this just went on a little too long.

That 70s Book

I gave a lower rating to Be True to Me.  But since I like to make it clear that this says more about ME than anyone else's opinion of the book, I don't feel as bad, but I do feel bad because Adele Griffin is a great writer, I think.  And I usually enjoy her books very much.  It's my anti-70s bias that is coming through here.  This was just so Ice Storm for me.  What a terrible, blah time the 70s were.  I did like the ending though.  But ugh.  The 70s!
