What's Going On Here?

There are SO MANY wonderful book review blogs out there and I can't compete with them, that is for sure. So this is not a book review blog. This is just a way for me to organize what I have read so that I can be better at matching the right book to the right person. The blog title comes from the brilliant mind of the most talented woman who ever lived, Ms. Judy Garland. The full quote is, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." That is what I hope to do here and in ever aspect of my life.

Great End to the Weekend

Lonesome Valley Farms claims that it is the #1 Haunt in the area.  I would agree even though I don't know any other haunts in that area!  I would say it is the #1 Haunt in a lot of areas!
For $20 MaryAnne and I traveled through the Slotter Farm (where everyone gets "slottered" hahahahaha) and a terrific Haunted Hayride and Corn Stalk Walk.
MaryAnne and I were the first two people in the Slotter Farm that night and that was an exceptionally neat thing to experience.  The actors could and did touch us and they were scary, indeed!  The whole creepy little farm house itself would have been spooky even if it was empty.
The hayride had music and very cool monsters, TOTALLY scary pumpkin faces on spikes.  The corn stalk walk was full of scary music in well-placed positions.
Great food including walking tacos, fudge puppies, cheese fries, fried Oreos and more.  There was neat little gift shop, too.  Campfires as well!  But...but...no bathrooms.  Sigh...
Still...what a great haunt, we will surely go back next year.  There's a Get Lost Corn Maze that sounds a lot fun.  The one gal told us that folks got lost in there for hours and had to have someone from the farm go and get them!  Great stuff!  Hooray!

  1. On Sunday the 17th we headed to the Westmoreland fairgrounds to visit Lonesome Valley Farms haunted hayride and slotter house. We decided to visit the slotter house first and within minutes of getting in line we entered. We were the first ones to go through and it was nice because the actors treated us to a great scare. There wasn’t a lot of animatronics here, but plenty of actors and dark areas. As we navigated through the scares came from all directions. This attraction was a lot of fun and packed full of many surprises. They created some interesting décor and their use of props at the right times really enhanced the experience.

After the slotter house we boarded the tractor and again sat on hay. On this ride they had speakers so as we traveled they piped scary music throughout. The actors did an awesome job scaring people. We were chased by another piece of farm equipment not once but twice, they used some type of pyrotechnics through out and before exiting the tractor we were treated to a surprise horseman. The hayride by far was one of the better ones we have been on so far. The adventure concluded with a walk through a corn maze. Creepy music filled the air as monsters came from the darkness of the cornfield.

Both attractions were a lot of fun and had plenty of scares. The food was good and the farm even offers a get lost corn maze that you can do during the daylight or in the evening. We plan to visit this farm again next year and go early enough that we can take part in the get lost corn maze. Neither one of us was really eager to get lost in a corn maze at 9:00pm at night.

Scariness I give this attraction 7 skulls and 8 pumpkins for atmosphere.
